$18,900 in donations

This $1000 grant is to be used to finance “baby showers” for abused or abandoned children through the purchase of needed baby equipment or to underwrite the costs of “welcome kits” for abused or abandoned children when they arrive at their new foster home.

This $1500 grant will enable CAAF to support domestic initiatives that provide mental health therapies and support groups for children affected by aids and their families.

This $5000 grant will support the research efforts of FRAXA, an organization whose mission is to find effective treatments and a cure for all children and adults with Fragile X, which is the most common inherited cause of mental impairment and the most common cause of autism. Our grant was matched by generous donor so net was $10,000.

Holy Family’s mission is to provide loving homes to babies, to continue to work with foster children and to provide counseling to birth mothers. The $1000 donation is restricted to services and programs that enrich the lives of babies, children and birth mothers and/or outreach programs that take the topic of adoption to schools, hospitals and colleges.

This $2000 grant will sponsor two students, grades 5-7, to attend the Sustainable Coastal Community Camp 2007-a full day, week long camp which focuses on marine and city planning topics in a sustainable coastal community; fund the Family Scholarship Program which issues coupons to students who visit the Aquarium which are redeemable for $1.00 admission tickets for each family of four; and fund admission, classroom programs and bussing for a Title 1 class of 40 students and 6 chaperones to attend Coral Reef Critters Class.

$1000 donation went to the Strides for Change Walk to support MADD’s educational efforts regarding the dangers of drinking and driving.

$1000 scholarship to a student at California State University, Long Beach who is preparing to be a high school teacher.

This $400 donation to N.A.P.D. is directed to the Community Based Programs and is to be used to enable young adults to attend local theater productions and/or sporting events as part of the N.A.P.D.. program.

$1000 donation is to be used for student scholarships for the “Special Mornings” program, which brings elementary special education classes, usually 2nd through 4th, from throughout LA County to the Palos Verdes Art Center for art education. The program is used to enhance their self confidence and creative expression.

Ride to Fly is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing therapeutic horseback riding lessons and the associated learning experiences for children and adults with disabilities. $1000 donation is to be used for student scholarships for those who would otherwise not be able to participate.

Four $500 scholarships to students pursuing a career in teaching or a field centered on children.

This $1000 grant will enable Sunshine Kids to add quality of life to children with cancer by providing them with exciting, positive group activities, so they may once again do what kids are supposed to do …have fun and celebrate life.

$1000 grant will provide scholarships for this organization that provides free surf camps for children with autism.
